月夜に踊る (Dance in the moonlight)

　私の好きな夜のシーン。
　以前、星空の撮影で標高の高い山に行ったのだが、驚くほど闇夜で、街明かりがないとこんなにも暗いんだと実感した。そんな夜が日常だった大昔の人々は、想像力を働かせて妖精や幻獣を紡ぎ出したのだろう。
　夜が幻想的なのは、光が少なく、目から入る情報が著しく制限されるからだ。真っ暗な空間は、恐怖と神秘をもたらす。

Dance in the moonlight

　My kind of night scene.
　I once went to a mountain at a high altitude to photograph the starry sky. It was a surprisingly dark night, and I realized how dark it would be without city lights. People in ancient times, when such nights were commonplace, must have used their imagination to weave fairies and fantastic beasts.
　Night is fantastic because there is little light and the information entering through the eyes is severely limited. The pitch-dark space brings fear and mystery.
